What Moca is
Moca is the capital of Espaillat province, a mid-size town best known for the surrounding coffee and cacao farms and for its Gothic-style parish church, one of the more distinctive buildings in the Cibao. Most guests booking this run are visiting family, attending a local event, or handling farm or business matters rather than sightseeing, since Moca has no resort or hotel strip aimed at tourists. The road leaves Santiago heading north-east on a well-paved secondary highway, flatter and quicker than the routes toward the mountains or the coast, which keeps the drive to a predictable 30 to 40 minutes.
