Confirm where the rental begins and ends

You can plan an STI arrival transfer to accommodation, a rental for selected exploring days around Santiago and the Cibao, then a departure transfer. Keep three confirmations: arrival ride, rental agreement and final airport ride. The transfer provider does not arrange the rental simply because you mention it in your request.

Ask the actual rental branch whether you collect the car there or receive delivery at your exact hotel. Vehicle delivery, customer pickup and collection of the returned car are different services. Confirm addresses, local dates, hours, fees, driver requirements and payment arrangements with the rental company. Do not assume a service offered at STI also applies to a city branch or a Jarabacoa property.

Keep the first airport transfer separate from rental collection

For a night arrival, compare reaching your accommodation first and collecting the rental later. Confirm room access separately. Landing time is not the time you reach the hotel: allow for formalities, bags, meeting the driver and the road journey before accepting a rental appointment. Do not assume an office stays open for your flight.

If the operating flight, arrival airport or local date changes, update dispatch and the rental branch separately. Airport flight tracking does not change the rental reservation, preserve its pickup window or establish its no-show terms. Obtain acknowledgement of revised arrangements from each provider and keep the current confirmations offline.

Finish the rental before the airport pickup

Ask the rental company how return is accepted: agreed location, recipient, fuel requirements, inspection process and any after-hours procedure. Leaving keys at hotel reception does not by itself confirm that the rental has ended. Obtain the return record the company provides and retain it; no particular deposit-release date is promised here.

Allow separately for returning the car, unloading every bag, any move to the transfer meeting point and the confirmed drive to STI. A normal hotel pickup buffer does not include an unplanned rental-branch stop. If collection could conflict with an early flight, discuss returning the rental the previous day. Ask dispatch whether a branch pickup or added stop is available and confirm the revised route and total before booking.

Update both bookings when your itinerary changes

Finishing your stay in Puerto Plata or Jarabacoa instead of Santiago changes the plan. Ask the rental company whether a different return location is permitted, available and chargeable; do not simply leave the car at the next hotel. Send dispatch your actual final accommodation, entrance, passengers, bags and departing flight. An earlier Santiago confirmation does not cover the changed route automatically.

Save one checklist: rental branch and reference; collection and accepted return arrangements; responsible contacts; accommodation and bag storage; confirmed transfer origin; local pickup date and time; flight date and number; and each booking’s change terms. Request child seats and vehicle space separately for each service. If a handover runs late, contact both providers rather than assuming the airport car will wait without limit.
